Final Post for 2009… and hurray, it’s 2010!

I thought I can’t be able to make it to post the last posting since my internet is down. 

Now, the weird thing is that, all we thought the modem was strike by the lightning, however it’s not!  It’s just the modem and my brother’s PC are both not in ‘communicating mode’… further explain… Modem A and Router A (the one I am using) were both not working on the day when there was a thunder storm in my area.. 2 days later, I tried using my laptop connecting, and voila, it works.. but when I connect with my brother’s desktop, it shows no connection at all!! Then we took the desktop to the ‘doctor’ and when we check, my brother’s PC got no problem connecting!  So, the conclusion is that the modem A and my brother’s PC is not ‘ngam’ suddenly!! 

Today, we change to new modem, and new router… and I am happily now blogging away… OK, bare you on the nonsense of my internet story, I shall give you some short notes of what happen since the Dong Zhi till now, and I shall do the detail postings later..

Christmas Eve… AT HOME.. doing nothing…

Christmas Day… NO Good, coz mum make noise of some stuff, and I was practically ‘angry’ with those 8 gong and 8 po!

Boxing Day.. Open all the gifts, and we had a gathering in my Aunt’s house to farewell my brother whom now in New Zealand ‘jaga-ing’ lembu and kambing.. muahaha…

29th Dec – I had a meeting with Mery and Merryn for dinner.. and we had a great time together…

Tonight – we will be going to my Princess kai yeh’s house for the eve’s celebration ushering the New Year…. and I had did jelly for it..

Blog Break

My house internet got a problem, therefore will not be able to post up all my posts from Christmas onwards...

However, I hope you guys stay tune to my blog, and I don't have to wait too long for the internet to be up again.. :(

I am now in office, and curi curi to drop a note, so that you guys won't forget me...

My Dong Zhi Dinner

Yesterday, I seen a few blogs mentioning on the Winter Solstice Festival, and I waited today, as then I could also upload the photos of the dinner dishes which were prepared solely by my pair of hand.

This year, we do not have that many people for dinner, only my mum, 2 younger brothers and one of their GF, Princess and myself.  Therefore, I invited Ben over since I know he got no family member here.

So, for the 7 of us, we have a good dinner comprising the followings:-

 Tau hu with half of the pak cham kai

 Steam fish

 Drunken prawn with suhoon at the bottom

 Nga ku, suan zai with siew yok

Fried calamari

Broccoli and kai lan with prawn and mushroom

There is also soup, and another fried fish which I didn’t take any photo of it.  And of course, we have the desserts as follows:-

In total.. I served my family members with 10 dishes for this festival… and all clean up except for the soup and tang yuen which are leftover for myself today…

A not so good week

This week, particularly from 14th to the 18th was really bad bad for me..

First, Princess fell from her bouncer when I was filling water in her bath tub and had a hard hit on her face.  I saw some blood stain, but after I check, don’t find any bump or cut.. don’t know why.. now, Princess will scream in fear when I put her on the bouncer again.

Second, I dropped the whole bowl of flour on to the floor while trying to mix the cake.

Third, I dropped an egg in another day while baking a cake.

Sei mei, for 2 cakes I bake, I dropped 2 different thing on the floor on different day!

Forth, I make a cake for a customer, and when I sliced the cake, I know it’s not up to my expectation! but it’s too late for me to bake another one!!!  So sorry for her as she wanted the cake for birthday celebration!

Then all end with a fever and sore throat.. and by the time I am writing this post, I have a whole big tumbler of water and pat poh drink with me…

Let’s end this week with all this.. and hopefully next week will be better.. please please please…

Christmas Gathering @ Mid Valley

HO HO HO!!  It’s Christmas Seasons everywhere… and guess what, I received an invitation from Judy aka lemonjude, that she mummy Gwen and mummy moon will be having a little meeting in Mid Valley on the 17 December 2009, asking if I am interested. 

Me, being a person who don’t reject happy gathering, will surely make it, and was looking forward for this gathering since received the email.

When it comes…

We are supposed to meet at 11am in Kenny Rogers’ Mid Valley, and being me, again, I was late… and I left the house only at 11am coz I have to dig Princess up from her nap!  Hai, bad habit, has to improve on this soon.. coz every time I am sure the last to arrived (I used to be the earliest when I am ‘alone’).  So paiseh that the 3 mummies were there already when I arrived.

I just don’t understand, Mid Valley is forever so packed up in the car park, and I have to spend at least 15 minutes to locate a parking lot (I will have another post on this) and when I got mine, got to Kenny Rogers, and ordered a little platter as I am still feeling full on my breakfast.

The kids were already having their good time, with Ving Yan, Terry and Gwen each having their portion of food.. and Ving Yan do leaves me with one good memory of her being so friendly.. She keep asking why Princess is not smiling, and she was so concern of where Princess should be seated.  Very nice girl..

After food, we went to the Ground Flour, Centre Court where the Santa photo session is held.  We have to queue for our turn with Santa, while Mummy Moon and Judy went and get the tickets for this session.. It cost RM10 which include a print out of the photo, a balloon and also a little gift.  The kids even got a cloak and hat during the session.

After which we proceed to the Boulevard Hotel for some gift exchange session, and having the kids got some time to run around too.. Princess was just have to be seated on the stroller seeing all the kor kor and cheh cheh play.. :p

It’s nice meeting with 3 mummies and their kids.. just that we did not have any mummies photos instead and just got 1 which have everyone in Mummy Gwen’s blog.

After which, we proceed to the amusement park in the children floor, and I take this chance to do some shopping.. of course the queue was LONG!  By the time the 3 kids finish with their games, I only manage to finish my payment.

My Aloe Vera had bloomed some flowers, and just sharing here:-

I googled for the use of the flower, however don’t really find any, but of course the aloe vera benefits are there.  My mum even says that for those Aloe Vera to be eaten, it has to be bloomed, and only then it’s safe to eat wor.  Don’t know how true is this..

Marital Status - Single

Nowadays, whenever I was at the counter filing up form, I will still tick the square of being SINGLE, but of course, I got lots and lots of curious stare from those who read the form… I even had once someone told me, I should tick either separated or divorce!!  No, No, I don’t… since I am not even married, how to have separation or divorce?

Now, come this CNY, I have a question… since I am Single, will I still received ang pow? and if I don’t, will I need to give since I am not married?

This is not a serious issue.. but I just want to see what others think of this situation.. should there be any other single people around out there who wish to know this also?

I know for the Muslims, if they celebrate Hari Raya, the ‘duit raya’ will be given from those who has started working to those who are still dependant, but for us Chinese, we give 'ang pow’ on the term of marriage.. those married will give to those singles…

The mother and child loving moment

This is to write down some loving moments between me and my little Princess. 

As a mother, I am very proud of this gift from GOD, and I even have a blog just for her to write down all her milestones, and other stuff related to her.

I finally managed to capture some loving moments, when Princess and I exchange lips..

I do this photos on my own.. with one hand holding on Princess.. and 1 with the camera.. not bad hoh…

It’s nice to have some ‘manja-ing’ time from the little ones.. :D

Penny wise Pound foolish?

I wanted to share this experience..

How many times that you go to a shopping mall, trying to see if they offer you free parking with a certain amount spend?

I was at Endah parade for a quick shopping and I wanted to see if the place has got blueberries for sale since it’s now in season.  Well, after walking the whole Carrefour for 2 rounds, I can’t find any except strawberries.

I did some calculations while doing my shopping as Endah Parade got 2 hours free parking if you purchase above RM30 from Carrefour.  I bought potato bread, a can of peach, strawberries, some gift wrappers and greeting cards, and some other can’t remember what.. I have 2 tumblers with me too.. which will make up my shopping losses of RM40++.  *quick note:  I was trying to meet the minimum purchase so was trying very very hard to find some thing to buy*

Upon at the counter, the cashier scanned the items, and I found that the tumbler is actually wrong pricing (it happen in this Carrefour many many times) therefore I am extra careful when come to the cashier.  I told the cashier to void the tumbler, as I don’t want to wait for them to start ‘calling’ their supervisor, check the price.. and blah blah blah…

So, the bill was then only RM25++ without the tumblers, but heck, I just don’t want to round the hypermarket again and with Princess wanting to touch anything that come to her curiosity.. so, I check out.

While exiting at the car park, I paid RM1 for the parking of an hour and half, and that make my total spending of RM26++ instead of RM45++?

I just may save another RM20 for this.  And the next time I go shopping, provided the cost of parking is going to be really expensive, I will surely not going to shop till the minimum payment. 

Sek Yuen Restaurant @ Jalan Pudu, Kuala Lumpur

I believe most people has eaten at this restaurant which carry some sentimental value, which now in KL has been getting lesser and lesser.

I went there with my family members last Saturday, and we had a great time with the food.  One thing I must mentioned is that the food is still ‘hot’ throughout the whole dinner time unlike those that we eat, normally by the end, it will all turned cold.

The bill came up to RM99.80 for a table of 5 person.  Beside the food that we had, we also took some ‘classical’ furniture too..

  I like this… the classical baby high chair… but Princess didn’t sit on it coz we scare she may fell since there is no barrier.. :p

My Cosway Membership

I just need to rant this out.  And warn the others of the Cosway ‘trick’

I did a new membership application on the 3rd of November 2009, and since it was done through my cousin, I did not have the membership number immediately.  Anyway, when I wanted to buy some stuff from Cosway end  November, I went to the shop nearest to my house to check the status of my membership.

To my surprise, I was informed that my membership was not submitted, and just that, I couldn’t get my cousin too! Anyway, the stockist asked me to re-register again for the membership, and I did thinking that my cousin may be too busy to submit my application.

When I got home, I called my cousin again, and she informed me that my application was done on the 3rd November 2009, and she even SMS me my membership number.  So, I called the Cosway Service Centre to inform them that I am not happy with this.

I feel myself being tricked into paying additional membership fees, just because the stockist wanted additional member under their ‘umbrella’. 

Up till today, I have not received the refund, and had been written to Cosway for a twice.  So, if you have got any Cosway member, be aware if you want them to check your membership number using your name!

Just sharing some articles

I am not looking at par at her, but just wanna share my thoughts of being in her situation.  Well, she is a celebrity, and I think she is shouldering more ‘aspect’ than myself.

I have hardly read newspaper nowadays, but then today, I just feel like reading The Star Online, and I came across this article and also this one.

In the first one, she is also a single mother, who is not married, and being herself, she manage to raise her child whom is now 2 years old. 

In the 2nd article, it’s about unintentional pregnancies, and the some statistics numbers for reference. 

Well, just had a feel that these 2 articles may relates to me, and may love to keep them and share with all of you who reads my blog. 

I have so far no regrets to bring Princess to this world, and raising her on my own, but I am not encouraging this trend.  Being one, I will love to share my parenthood experience, and bring joy to everyone with my Princess.

A Happy Married Life

A couple had only been married for two weeks and the husband, although very much in love,

Couldn't wait to go out on the town and party with his old buddies.

So, he said to his new wife, "Honey, I'll be right back."

"Where are you going, Coochy Coo?" asked the wife

"I'm going to the bar, Pretty Face," he answered.

"I'm going to have a beer."

The wife said, "You want a beer, my love?"

She opened the door to the refrigerator and showed him 25 different kinds of beer, Brands from 12 different countries: Germany, Holland, Japan , India , etc.

The husband didn't know what to do, and the only thing that he could think of saying was,

"Yes, Lollipop... But at the bar... You know... They have frozen glasses... "

He didn't get to finish the sentence, because the wife interrupted him by saying,

"You want a frozen glass, Puppy Face?"

She took a huge beer mug out of the freezer, so frozen that

She was getting chills just holding it.

The husband, looking a bit pale, said,

"Yes, Tootsie Roll, but at the bar they have those hors d'oeuvres that are really delicious...

I won't be long. I'll be right back. I promise. OK?"

"You want hors d'oeuvres, Poochie Pooh?"

She opened the oven and took out 5 dishes of different hors d'oeuvres: chicken wings, pigs in blankets, mushroom caps, and little quiches.

"But my sweet honey... At the bar.... You know there's swearing, dirty words and all that.."

"You want dirty words, Cutie Pie?

LISTEN UP CHICKEN SHIT! SIT YOUR BLOODY ASS DOWN, SHUT THE HELL UP, DRINK YOUR BEER IN YOUR FROZEN MUG AND EAT YOUR HORS D'OEUVRES BECAUSE YOUR MARRIED ASS ISN'T GOING TO A DAMNED BAR! THAT SHIT IS OVER, GOT IT, JACKASS?"

And...they lived happily ever after.

The reason choosing my house as the venue as then we could have more free time to conduct our gathering and just opposite my house there is a small playground where the kids can have some time too.

Bread & Cake

I am always in the baking mode.. and I will bake as and when I am free.. or even sometimes, when I have supporting friends, bloggers who ordered my ‘kit jok’ with all my tender loving care..

I decorated the bun before putting into the oven..

Cookies for Christmas

This is something that I did for every Christmas, and to be given to my friends and family members.  This year, since sitting at home, caring for my Princess, I hope to use this as the alternative to earn a living.

Chocolate Chip Cookies with Almond in a box is selling at RM20, consist approx 30 to 40 cookies. 

I don’t know how much I could make, but at least, with any amount, it helps me quite a bit. 

After Christmas, I will be also preparing for Chinese New Year, and will be happy to have Kuih Kapet (Love Letters) and also this Chocolate Chip Cookies for sure.. the rest, I will see how much I can do next year..

Dad & Mom are getting a Divorce!

An elderly man in Mumbai calls his son in New York and says, 'I hate to ruin your day son, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are getting a divorce; 35 years of marriage... and that much misery is enough!'

'Dad, what are you talking about?' the son screams.

'We can't stand the sight of each other any longer,' the old man says.'We're sick of each other, and I'm sick of talking about this, so you call your sister in Hong Kong and tell her!'

Frantic, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone.

'Like heck they're getting divorced,' she shouts, 'I'll take care of this.'

She calls Mumbai immediately, and screams at the old man, 'You are not getting divorced. Don't do a single thing until I get there. I'm calling my brother back, and we'll both be there tomorrow. Until then, don't do a thing, DO YOU HEAR??' and she hangs up.

The old man hangs up his phone and turns to his wife. 'Okay', he says, 'It's all set. They're both coming for our anniversary and paying their own airfare!!'

Instant herbal tea

Ben knowing that being me a sometimes lazy fellow, he brought the herbal tea for me to standby at home just in case.  According to him, it’s a very good and convenient drink but I have yet to try.  Will do that one day… coz I am having bit of sore throat..

Thanks Ben for those goodies… and in return, I gave him a tupperware of home made herbal tea which is being chilled in the fridge.. and I am still looking forward for the return of my container.. hehehhee.. Ben, if you read this, you ‘sek jou’ la.. hahahha..

No no, I am not stingy that he can’t have the container, but if he returns me, I got more to give him ma.. or else, next time will be in plastic bag which is not very environmental friendly right.. :p

Of 2 birthdays

Nowadays, of every occasion, I try to bake.. firstly to improve my deco skill, bake skill, and also to save money.  I wonder how come cakes are so expensive ah?  For me, I want to bake cake that is affordable to everyone, and have everyone got a chance to taste my cake.

I try very much use less sugar (very important) but not to spoilt the cake sweet taste.. I don’t think anyone will like a ‘sugarless, tasteless’ cake too right…

So, last weekend, beside baking for my lovely cousin, I bake another cake for my brother’s girlfriend’s BIL and sister, since we are invited to their place for dinner.  My brother wanted to buy a cake, but I told him, I will bake one instead.

Then today (1 December 2009), it was my Part time boss birthday too, and since he has been asking for recipes on brownies, I guess he must like this cake.. and I did this for him

Since this is a brownie, I decided not to put the chocolate ganache at the side, and let those on the top flow down on their own.  I topped it with lots of walnuts and some sugar sprinkle to have some colours on the cake.

I am also doing fruit flan, customised to your request of the sponge cake to be used instead of the usual vanilla flavour.  I will also take in the fruits which you wish to have (of course, don’t give me those that is difficult to find provided it’s on season). 

I welcome those of you who wanted to try my cake, and I can do upon your request with at least 3 days notice.  If you gonna ask me how much I charge for those above if you are to order, I am doing it for RM40 (abt 1KG) and RM30 for (1/2 KG).
