The Saturday Joke…

So You Think You Are Smart?

Let's see how smart you are! Try out these 5 questions below. (Answers ... please scroll down)

1. A murderer is condemned to death. He has to choose between three rooms. The first is full of raging fires, the second is full of assassins with loaded guns, and the third is full of lions that haven't eaten in 3 years.. Which room is safest for him?

2. A woman shoots her husband. Then she holds him under water for over 5 minutes. Finally, she hangs him. But 5 minutes later they both go out together and enjoy a wonderful dinner together. How can this be?

3. Can you name three consecutive days without using the words
Wednesday, Friday, or Sunday?

I know you are laughing.....been easy so far...OK...

4. What is black when you buy it, red when you use it, and grey when you throw it away ?

5. This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious as to just how quickly
you can find out what is so unusual about it. It looks so ordinary and plain that you would think nothing was wrong with it.. In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is highly unusual though. Study it and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd... But if you work at it a bit, you might find out.. Try to do so without any coaching!

1. The third room. Lions that haven't eaten in three years are dead...
That one was easy, right?

2. The woman was a photographer. She shot a picture of her husband, developed it, and hung it up to dry (shot; held under water; and hung).

3. Sure you can name three consecutive days, yesterday, today, and tomorrow!

4. Charcoal, as it is used in barbecuing.

5.. The letter e, which is the most common letter used in the English language, does not appear even once in the paragraph.

Have a nice weekend… :D

Banana Cake

I have seen her, her and her baking mango cake.. and I got like loads of bananas sitting in the house, so I decided to bake banana cake instead…

DSC00759DSC00760 DSC00762and I got the recipe from Aunty Yochana and it’s as follows:-

180 gm. Butter
180 gm. Fine sugar
2 nos. Extra large Eggs - beaten lightly
250 gm. Cake flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. Bicarbonate of Soda
220 gm. Bananas - mashed
50 gm. Dairy whip cream
1/2 tsp. Banana essence
2 bananas – slice

(1) Cream butter and sugar till light and creamy.
(2) Pour in eggs gradually and beat till creamy.
(3) Add in whip cream, mashed bananas and banana essence and mix well.
(4) Add in cake flour, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda and beat for a while only.
(5) Pour into an 8" round tray, and arrange sliced bananas on top.
(6) Bake at 175C for about 50 to 60 mins. or until cooked.

This is a very good recipe I would say as it’s a very moist cake but not oily at all.  It’s also not sweet!

and I even had bake one and have it iced for a friend’s birthday..

Weekend – Have a break.. and let’s have a joke…

Just to share some jokes..

How to Bill Others

A doctor and a lawyer were talking at a party.

Their conversation was constantly interrupted by people describing their ailments and asking the doctor for free medical advice.

After an hour of this, the exasperated doctor asked the lawyer, "What do you do to stop people from asking you for legal advice when you're out of the office?"

"I give it to them," replied the lawyer, "and then I send them a bill."

The doctor was shocked, but agreed to give it a try.

The next day, still feeling slightly guilty, the doctor prepared the bills.

When he went to place them in his mailbox, he found a bill from the lawyer.

Embarassing Situation

A very shy young man goes into a bar and sees a beautiful woman sitting alone.

After an hour he gathers enough courage to go and ask her, "Er... excuse me, but would you mind if I sat here beside you?"

She responds in a loud voice :

Everyone in the bar turns to stare at them. The young man is surprised, shocked and embarrassed and goes back to his table.

After a few minutes the woman walks over to him smiles, apologizes, and says, "You see, I'm a graduate student in psychology and I'm studying how people respond to embarrassing situations."

The young man responds loudly with,

Have a nice weekend!

My Dear Friend

I had this friend, whom I have been having some worries for her.  We have known each other since Primary School, and during our Secondary School, we had closer relationship and every Chinese New Year, we will celebrate at her house too.

After completion of our Secondary School, we departed our ways, and she had gone to USM to undertake her undergraduate degree in Chemistry.  She was also successful got a career in a Company as a Chemist.

After a few years of us being departed, while she went for UK and I am in Singapore.  When I returned a few years ago, I got to know she had an accident and refuse to talk.  Therefore, no one knows what happen even her own sister.  We tried to ask, but she just refuse to mention.

She had recovered better recently, at least we can talk to her, and she is willing to open her mouth.  Those days when we need to talk using paper is gone.

Now, my concern for her is that now, she just lost all her confidence, and she will buzz me every time in MSN telling me that she is having problem at her work.  So, what’s the problem?  She just keep telling me that she can’t cope and wanted to find a job as factory operator which provides hostel and only works 8 hours.

I keep advising her that she should not on her MSN at work, so she could concentrate very much on the necessary.  She was even complaining that her boss did not allow her to have MSN at work coz she has been distracting herself.  But, to her, this is not the issue of her being not able to cope at her work.

We are all in wits end how to help this friend of mine.. how can we help to built her confidence, how to help her to stay on her focus.

Another thing is that she keep saying she was being exorcised, and was being disturbed by those dirty stuff.. I told her to pray, and she says she has done it.. so how?

I am really worry for her, as now she is staying with her sister, however without a job, it will be difficult for her too!

Anyone with a better recommendation of factor operator job to recommend?  Please let me know… thanks in advance..

Baking Mode

I am back to my baking mode.. and found a pack of nearly expiry muffin mix in the cabinet.  And therefore, the mode sips in…

The muffin mix was for the plain flavour, however I know if I really bake it the plain ones, it will not be as good selling as the chocolates ones.. So, I add in a table spoon of cocoa powder and also some chocolates balls.

and the outcome..

muffin I started this, and since using those ready mix, I have not got the hang of baking enough..

Here Comes my usual “la sao hou peng'” the best ever bake I do…

DSC00686DSC00687I packed those cookies in my mooncake bag, and gave it to my aunt, and my Princess god father.

So, anyone want to be my neighbour? :D

Mid Autumn Festival dinner

Hahahhaa.. did you laugh on my title?  I know I bit slow.. but I am just too busy to put in my blog!

We had steamboat dinner on that night.  I was just too busy to think of those fancy dishes this year.. I took Princess out to the wet market, buy those steamboat stuff like fish ball, meat ball, fish mee and others.  On top of that, I also buy fish paste, and meat to make yong tau fu also.

Nowadays, I had 2 hours of ‘luxury’ time when Princess had her morning nap.  So I took this opportunity to do the yong tau fu first.  And cleaning and storing those fish balls, meat balls and also the fish mee.  In addition, I also cut those vege and soak them so we could had dinner later.

Some of my ‘liew’ for the steamboat…

DSC00633 Tau fu yong tau fu

I cooked the stock soup myself with some pork bones, a small piece of ham, and also some soya beans.

And everyone had a good time wallopping the food, and I am just glad that there is no left overs for me the next day! muahhaa…

Penang Penang..

On Monday, when I just got up from bed, my mum told me that my uncle has admitted to ICU in Penang GH.  Asking whether we should go visit him.  I surely say yes.

I got plans to bring Princess for a trip to Penang, however not in such a situation.  I wanted to be there to give support to my aunt and my cousin, as I know I may not be able to visit my uncle since he is in ICU.

My mum made a few calls, arrangement and we finally left KL at 4.10pm (by then, we have already receive news that my uncle is already out from ICU and in the normal observation ward).  And we have to stop over to Bidor to pick up my aunt from Teluk Intan.  We arrived in Penang at 9.30pm.

Since we were already late, therefore the first night, end up in Lip Sin food court (which is near to my aunt’s house) and just had some Thai food.

Next day morning, we went to Anson Road for dim sum, and being me, in such a rush, I again left my camera, but I manage to take some photos with my phone.. and only after we ate, I took this photo…

DSC00659After the walloping session…

If you ask me if I would recommend this place, I will NOT!  We found strains of hair in those food!!  and all they did was to change a new plate without even apologising!

And for dinner, we had a good feast.. we ate at this place at Macalister Road..

DSC00664DSC00669 Broccoli and Scallops

DSC00668 Steam Fish

DSC00666 Seng Kua Tau Fu

DSC00665  Sweet & Sour Crab with man tau

The bill came up to about RM150+ and we quite happy with it, however the broccoli scallop is towards the high price (RM50).

And before we left Penang, we got to know my uncle will be able to discharge on Friday and we all left Penang with a ease heart.  My uncle is currently undergoing dialysis treatment for his kidney, and he is not supposed to have lots of water.  He took some porridge a few days before, and on that night, he experienced breathing difficulties, and was admitted to Bukit Mertajam GH before being transfer to Penang GH due to the lack of facilities in BM GH.

We thank and praise Lord that my uncle met a good doctor in BM, and he followed the ambulance to  Penang and insisted that the nurses take him in first before all the registration process.

So, my uncle learned his lesson, and he now dare not take any porridge.

On days that I am just too lazy to cook

Today, I had a very very bad pain, and I can feel like my spine is breaking into 2 pieces.  This has happened before during my confinement, and this time, I think it’s due to the bed I slept on in my aunt’s house.  Or I should say, not the bed, but the insufficient height of the pillows.

Anyway, I am just to lazy to cook today, and knowing tonight will be a steamboat dinner (and I have been having steamboat for the last 3 weekends!), so I just did a quick quick lunch..

DSC00678 Steam Otak (mum bought)

DSC00680 Yao Choy Sum

DSC00679The cube tau fu

All the above does not need me to ‘cook’.  All I need is a wok and water with the steam tray..

And of course just cut some shallots and garlic, fried them, add some oyster sauce to it and just pour over the veg and tau fu.. I am done!

muahahaa… and I can now rest so that I can enjoy my steamboat tonight..

A husband wakes up at home with a huge hangover.

He forces himself to open his eyes, and the first thing he sees is a couple of aspirins and a glass of water on the side table.

He sits down and sees his clothing in front of him, all clean and pressed. He looks around the room and sees that it is in perfect order, spotless, clean. So is the rest of the house.

He takes the aspirins and notices a note on the table. "Honey, breakfast is on the table, I left early to go grocery shopping. Love You!"

Totally shocked with the note , he goes to the kitchen and sure enough there is a hot breakfast and the morning newspaper.
His son is also at the table, eating. He asks, "Son, what happened last night?"

His son says, "Well, you came home around 3 AM, drunk and delirious.

Broke some crockery, puked in the hall, and gave yourself a black eye when you stumbled into the door". Confused, the man asks, "So, why is everything in order and so clean, and breakfast is on the table waiting for me? I should expect a big quarrel with her!"

His son replies, "Oh, that! Mom dragged you to the bedroom, and when she tried to take your clothes n shoes off, you said, "LADY LEAVE ME ALONE! I'M MARRIED!"

The Breakdown
Moral : Self-induced hangover - $400.00
Broken crockery - $800.00
Breakfast - $10.00
Saying the Right Thing While Drunk – "PRICELESS"

Happy Weekend… and Happy Mid Autumn Festival..

I will blog of the food (home made yong tau foo with steamboat).. yum yum!

Finally.. I am done with mooncakes

My mooncake shop is officially close.. and now it’s my brother’s turn to open his jelly mooncake (so, nothing to do with me) muahahha…. his jelly mooncake is only open for business for 1 day!

My next project, will be a birthday cake for my ever best friend, Ben and a wedding cake for my ever best buddy, Cecilia!  I hope I could do the wedding cake for her on her marriage registration day on the 30th October 2009!

And now, after finishing the mooncakes, I now got to get back to my accounts, reports and of course, not forgetting I have plans to bake teething biscuits for my Princess too!

I am happy to say that this year mooncake is going well (first year selling) and I am happy with the results.  With Princess sticking to me 24 / 7, I am glad I could at least finished all the orders but I know the time is bit slow.. hopefully next year, when Princess is older, I can have better budget in terms of the time..

So, now back to the blogging and hope to keep up with it again.. :D

p/s:  Thanks for those who ordered mooncake from me, and I hope you like and enjoy it!
